Your Role

As our Carpenter, you will be responsible for measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and other materials. You will construct and install building frameworks, including walls, floors, and doorframes, inspect and replace damaged frameworks or other structures and fixtures, and instruct and direct laborers and other construction helpers.

Responsibilities

Installs foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites.
Fits and installs window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, and interior and exterior trim using a carpenter’s level, plumb bob, and laser levels.
Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels.
Studies specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine the dimensions and materials required.
Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
Assembles and fastens materials to make frameworks or props using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repairs or replaces them using hand tools.
Inspects ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
Moves necessary materials around the job site as assigned.
Cleans up worksite debris.

Qualifications and Skills

Proven experience as a carpenter or similar role in construction.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans.
Knowledge of construction materials and methods, with the ability to work with a variety of materials such as wood, steel, metal, and composites.
Strong mathematical skills for measuring and calculating dimensions.
Flexibility to work in various environments, from construction sites to indoor settings.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and adherence to regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Ability to identify issues with structures and find practical solutions to repair or replace damaged sections.
Certification or additional training in carpentry or construction safety may be preferred.
